The book paved the way for Going to School, the organization, so that we could continue making stories for millions of children who live in India’s slums and villages.
“The question changed from,
‘How do stories change children’s lives?’ to ‘How do we get these beautiful books to the poorest children free of cost?’”
Nine mini movies, each a story about the day in the life of going to school in India, were aired on Pogo and National Geographic, and reached 65 million children.
500,000 copies of our 10 mini books in regional languages were distributed free-of-cost to 45,000 primary schools, reaching five million children.
Going to School stories were incorporated into the national curriculum, and continue to reach 10 million children every year.
